***CSHPM Online Colloquium: Nikita Agarwal ***
In these isolated times, the Canadian Society for History and Philosophy of Mathematics (http://www.cshpm.org/) is organizing an online colloquium series via Zoom. Sessions are open to CSHPM members as well as the broader scholarly community. Participants are encouraged to become members (for as little as $10-$30/year, depending on your employment status), but it is not required. Non-members can get regular updates on our activities by liking us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/cshpmschpm). The talk will last 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A.
NIKITA AGARWAL, Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics & Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Bhopal will deliver the eight talk of the CSHPM Online Colloquium series.

TITLE: Life and works of Maryam Mirzakhani - The Master Artist of Curved Surfaces
ABSTRACT: Maryam Mirzakhani is the first and the only female winner of the Fields Medal since its inception in 1936.
She has made novel contributions to several areas of Mathematics, including algebraic topology, geometry and ergodic theory.
In this talk, we will give a glimpse of her life and discuss some of her research contributions.
