I've been playing around with some ideas I got from this group and elsewhere, and put together a talk for Open Source Bridge. The video isn't available yet but the slides are online here. The conversation kept going and today Wired published an article about my thought experiment. So maybe folks here will find it interesting.

The core of the notion is to throw out the assumption that we must quantify wealth and income, in order to run an economy. So what would a currency look like in that environment? Maybe something like the gift economies of classic anthropology. And it turns out we can use crypto tools to build digital objects that act like heirlooms.

I find the centrality of the bitcoin blockchain to be problematic, so you might notice the #noblockchain hashtag on some of this stuff. :)

I should be writing up more of my spec for the schema of how exactly these will work but I think the philosophy is more important than the implementation, so I wanted to share here first.
