Editor, Education and Culture

Dear Colleagues:

I plan to step down as editor of Education and Culture in the summer of 2010. It will be 6 years at that time, and I am ready to hand it over to a new person. It has been a gratifying journey and very fulfilling.

To that end, the John Dewey Society has appointed me to chair a screening committee, with Lynda Stone, president, and Jim Garrison, immediate past president, to advise the Society on the selection of the next editor.

To be fully considered for this position, applicants should be members of the John Dewey Society, and send the following items:

·         A letter of no more than 750 words outlining your interest in the position, your experience in journal reviewing or editing, especially in using online manuscript management systems, some of your ideas for the journal, and a description of resources available at your institution. The journal is published by Purdue University Press and Berkeley Electronic Press, and these resources are available to the new editor.

·         CV.

·         The committee will ask a select number of applicants to provide letters of support from their supervisors (department heads and deans if you are at a college or university). Please do not send these items unless requested to do so.

The committee will begin reviewing applications on October 15, 2009. Please send all material to A. G. Rud at r...@purdue.edu. No paper please.

For any questions, do not hesitate to contact me, and please forward this message to others who might be interested. Information about the journal is available at its website, http://docs.lib.purdue.edu/eandc.
