TWO Open Full Time Tenure Track Faculty Positions in the Early Childhood Education Department at National-Louis University in Chicago, Illinois

 

 

Position Description #1:

 

The Department of Early Childhood Education seeks a dynamic individual to fill a full-time tenure track position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, with an emphasis in early childhood education The Department offers both graduate and undergraduate programs leading to initial licensure in early childhood education as well as undergraduate and graduate programs in early childhood education and administration. Responsibilities include: (a) assisting graduate program coordinator with duties, such as scheduling, coordination of adjuncts, recruiting and advising cohort groups and individual students; (b) teaching undergraduate and graduate online and face to face courses in early childhood education (c) establishing a collaborative research agenda; (d) service to the department, school, university, and larger community; and (e) mentoring graduate students. The university and department have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. 

Minimum Qualifications: An earned doctorate in early childhood education, early childhood administration, or related field; successful experience teaching in higher education; classroom teaching experience in kindergarten/primary grades; record of scholarship and demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity, scholarly publications, and conference presentations; experience working with field-based partners, and an area of specialization in early childhood education that will serve as the foundation for teaching, research, and outreach. 

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who: (a) articulate a vision and philosophy for education of young children birth to age 8; (b) demonstrate an on-going research agenda and teaching interests that can contribute to the proposed doctoral program in early childhood education within the department; (c) demonstrate a sophisticated understanding of multiple methods of scholarship in the areas of early childhood education and administration, (d) possess experience in online teaching and/or adept use of technology as a teaching/learning tool; (e) have teaching experience with diverse populations and/or in urban settings; and (f) demonstrate an understanding of issues of importance to early childhood education and administration, primary education K-3, and teacher preparation and professional development.

Position Description #2

 

The Department of Early Childhood Education seeks a dynamic individual to fill a full-time tenure track position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to serve as coordinator of its M.Ed. and C.A.S. Early Childhood Administration (ECA) program. 

Responsibilities include: recruiting and advising cohort groups, scheduling adjuncts, teaching online courses in early childhood administration, conducting scholarly research, mentoring graduate students, and serving on department and university committees. In addition to the ECA program, the Department of Early Childhood offers both graduate and undergraduate programs leading to initial licensure in early childhood education. The university and department have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. Reports to: Dean of the College of Education and Chair of the Department of Early Childhood Education 

Qualifications: An earned doctorate in early childhood education, early childhood administration, or related field; Successful experience teaching in higher education; Classroom teaching experience at the pre-primary and/or primary level; Experience administering an early childhood program; Demonstrated commitment to scholarly activity, publications, and conference presentations; Experience working with field-based partners; An area of specialization in early childhood education that will serve as the foundation for teaching, research, and outreach.
