Please use this thread to submit your resolution ideas for the next
round of debates. I would ask you to put your best foot forward in
these resolution topics as these resolutions will be for Merrick
Season and we want to showcase the best ideas the Society has to
offer. These proposals will be compiled and presented at the Business
Meeting on Friday, February 18th, 4:30 on the Second Floor of the
ICC.
Please endeavor to submit resolutions with will foster creative,
original and accessible debate.

These are a couple of debate idea that me and Allison came up with and
some of the proposed Merrick topics that were not chosen. Have a
looksee!

Resolved: Facebook has changed our concept of identity
Resolved: National identity is elevating force for society
Resolved: It is better to exist in a fool’s paradise than in a
Wiseman’s hell
Resolved: We are the servants and not the masters of our machines
Resolved: Revolution is preferable to reform
Resolved: The public’s right to know ought to be valued above the
candidate for public office’s right to privacy
Resolved: The Trail of Tears was equivalent to genocide
Resolved: The Muslim Brotherhood will be needed to secure Egyptian
democracy
Resolved: The American government serves people only to the extent
necessary to ensure that people will serve it
Resolved: Human Rights are artificial
Resolved: Liberty is more important that equality

Failed states pose a greater threat to national security than stable
states.
Intellectual property should not be subject to copyright laws.

Resolved: The revolution in Egypt is advancing liberty.

Resolved: American interests are more important than democracy.

Resolved: The US Constitution is a living document.

Resolved: Science and religion are incompatible.

Resolved: Religion is the source of morality.
