John...that is SO good. We could definitely get into our favorite
topic, economics, paint Santa as corporate evil, talk about the
thousands of unemployed elves, etc. Tosetti would be so proud. Murphy
stamp of approval.

I don't know that I compete with John's, but here are a few.

Christmas is a secular holiday.
Christmas carols do more harm than good.
It is better to give than receive.

I think I want to throw my weight behind "it's better to give than receive" simply because of what I imagine Pat's speech would be like...

I agree with Katie. Awesome resolution. Great mix of humor and
content. It's perfect for the festivities.

I'm really liking John's proposal as well, but here are some other options:

The individual gift mandate is unconstitutional.
The Christmas debate should be renamed the holiday debate.
Christmas carols are living documents.
Santa's list violates our civil liberties.
Rudolph was justly condemned.

Resolved: All I want for Christmas is you.

Resolved: It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Resolved: We should withdraw from the War on Christmas.

MATERIALISM RUINED CHRISTMAS.
SANTA DOES NOT EXIST.
CHRISTMAS IS NOW A SECULAR HOLIDAY.

MISTLETOE DOES MORE HARM THAN GOOD.

On Mr. Donovan's resolutions:

Resolved: Belief in Santa hinders the progress of children
Witty, and something people can talk about/still be funny with, even
unprepared and possibly drunk.
Resolved: 'Tis the season to be jolly
What would we say other than acting like Scrooge?
Resolved: The US should support the North Pole's UN bid for statehood.
Nice play on our usual, but I doubt its ability to be sustained.
Resolved: The Elves deserve collective bargaining rights.
Haven't we done this before?
Resolved: The reign of Santa Claus is incompatible with Democracy
This could incorporate hindering children AND Elf unions!
Resolved: Reindeer bullies should be prosecuted + Children should not
be left alone with talking snowmen.
Well, that's just a fact.
