Resolved: Adam and Eve should have eaten the apple. (I know its not
technically an apple, but this sounds better than "Adam and Eve should
have eaten of the Fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and
Evil.")

Actually, I think Adam and Eve should have eaten of the fruit of the Knowledge of Good and Evil sounds much better.

R: Genius is socially determined

counterterrorism (http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/01/02/
president-obama-signed-the-national-defense-authorization-act-now-
what/) This one's similar to that proposed by Andrew, but I think it
should be worded less in con-law terms

multiculturalism in America.)

Resolved: American foreign policy since the fall of the Soviet Union has done more harm than good.

On the subject of a college hookup culture mentioned by Mariele's topic proposal: I would love to see a debate related to the nature of human sexuality. I think the heart of that debate is whether promiscuity or prudence is the superior lifestyle. I would personally phrase it more in those terms to keep the central idea of the debate focused so we don't have a lot of different tracks and tangents going on during the debate.

There's certainly a thread here about whether or not sexuality can be corrupting. At least I am getting a hint of that with the Adam and Eve debate proposals.  I think that could also tie into a debate on the virtuous or vice ridden nature of sexuality.

A debate on whether the highest good is found in the heavens or the Earth is somewhat related to this idea, but can also stand on its own as another excellent debate. Epicureanism versus Stoicism and all that.

I am in love with the Paris debate, it phrases existential questions through Greek mythology in a way anyone can relate to. Both the mythology and promiscuity debates might be best around Valentine's day. I would personally greatly enjoy this debate.

Resolved: The chief end of man is the glory of God
The two-party system does more harm than good
The unexamined life is not worth living
It is better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all
Chastity is a virtue

I'm a little confused about the Adam and Eve resolution: they DID eat
the fruit. Are we trying to establish a normative affirmation? Might
it be better to say "Adam and Eve should not have eaten of the Fruit
of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil"?
