Hey everyone,
Thanks for those of you who have signed up already. I got a question
the other day and thought I would post my response. Hope this helps.
Q: If about to start taking ARE 4.0 - How did you study for the tests
and which should I take first?
A: I studied for one exam at a time and tried to group similar ones
together one after another.
I took Construction Document and Services first, followed by Pre-
Design (4.0 = Programming, Planning and Practice). IF you see at the
end of the attached summary (that a person who just took all these
seminars put together for our study group) you will see the one
teacher recommends the order I just mentioned.
But another thought I had, was since you have to do a vignette in all
7 exams as shown in the transition chart I attached. It might be
worth taking Schematic Design first which is only vignettes, with no
multiple choice as a way to focus on vignettes.
The Schematic Design exam will be the most related to your everyday
work or practical knowledge. The best way to study for vignettes is
by doing! Practice on the software you download from
www.ncarb.org
and also get all the free study guides you can download from there.
The multiple choice requires more reading and memorizing as well as
practice exams. Kaplan has the best online/cd practice tests.
