Software as Craft (
http://scphilly.org) meets the last Tuesday of every month at PromptWorks to talk about Programming, Software Craftsmanship, Agile, XP, and many other topics. After the speaker, we pair up and work on a problem. It's a great place to learn from others, and to practice pair programming and TDD.
If you're thinking about giving a talk soon, we'd love to hear it!
If you've never given a talk before, give a lightning talk! It's a short talk with less pressure before/after the main speaker. We'll also have a lightning-talk only night in the next few months.
Some of the topics I'd personally be interested in:
* Abtractions above the code layer, such as service-oriented architecture or domain-driven design
* Mobile-first design, or other ways to approach style and layout
* Emerging or less-popular languages with novel ideas
* Soft topics about teams or organizations
* Property-based/generative testing, or other methods of testing code without explicit unit tests
* Introduction to type theory, or any other introductory computer science topics
* Anything you're passionate about!
Thanks!
