"Hi when would you like to meet or come over and look at our space?
Of course , we would love you to join PIFVA which would enable you to have routine
use of the space and be eligible to apply for post-production funds and attend workshops
free or at reduced rates. But just let's talk to see what we can do.

Hi everyone!
So, I think I deserve a hi-five. Nothing to make my hand go numb (it's not like it's my birthday), just one or two is all.
I'll even tell you why.
At the recent DIY conference (http://diydays.com/) I attended a panel led by Indy Halls own Geoff DiMasi that mainly involved the heads of Brandywine Workshop (Allen Edmunds), and the Philadelphia Independent Film and Video Association (Gretjen Clausing). I asked a question about what a fledgling organization like ours could do to gain some ground (or some space) in Philadelphia and they almost demanded that I contact them to see what they could do to help us! It was amazing.
I was wearing a low-cut v-neck shirt, but they also seemed very interested in the PMM group.
I left the conference with everyone's cards and a little glow about my face.
Since then, I've contacted them both and have gotten responses that seem positive and steeped in reality.
I knew it wasn't going to be as easy as getting keys to a building and a spot on the calendar, but it's still more than I had hoped for from the conference.
So, please, please, please visit their sites and see if these might be a good fit for us:
What happens now:
The fine folks from PIFVA, have gotten back to me and would like to meet sometime next week.
I know it's soon, but I didn't want to put it off too long.
Their Coordinator, Caroline Savage, would like to meet with us:
She said,

So hi everyone, and the meeting Friday was awesome. We had to meet a little early today because of some schedule changes, but the meeting was wonderful. Caroline showed me the PIFVA space in West Philadelphia and I think it would accommodate most, if not all, of our needs. She shares a floor and an office with another organization called Scribe. They teach film and video techniques to Jr. High and High School kids as well as members of the community. Scribe has space as well that we might be able to use in case we ever needed space for a bigger event.
We talked about our goals for our corresponding groups and seemed to have quite a bit to offer each other. They have space and connections to other groups in Philadelphia, they have a long history here as well that we can use to advertise our own group, or just build collaborations with others. We have a wide range of talented individuals who are interested in meeting and working with other talented individuals outside of our areas of expertise. Both Courtney and Caroline were very positive about what PIFVA and the PMM could do together and they radiated a great sense of flexibility and the possibility of collaboration.
Of course it wasn't all picking flowers in the sun, but it was close. I saw some drawbacks for some members of PMM. Firstly, PIFVA is mainly film focused. That doesn't exclude the potential for other members who may not be as visually oriented, but it does have a leaning towards video, post production, sound and music. And most of the benefits and connections that PIFVA has to offer are based in those fields as well. The other drawback might be that they are located at 42nd and Walnut Street. It may be a little farther than most people want to travel (unless you live down the street like I do).
The meeting with Brandywine is Tuesday the 25th at 6pm, does anyone want to come? They say I can bring one person, and I'd love the company.
After Brandywine, we need to have a meeting to talk over everything. Anyone want to make a date?
Mondays and Tuesdays are bad for me.
