Hi folks,

I'm a lurker. I know it's terrible for such a small group to have lurkers,
but that's what I've been doing on Phillymediamakers. Sorry.

Anyhow, to new beginnings! Right?

My name is Brian McTear. I am a record producer and musician in Philadelphia
and I have a really killer recording studio in Fishtown called Miner Street
Recordings. I've also been working to establish a nonprofit music
organization called Weathervane Music.

Weathervane's purpose is to support and advance the work of great
independent musicians. In addition, we are actually developing a non-profit
business model that we think could profoundly effect the ailing music
industry. More about that later.

To achieve our goals we've started an annual series of music recordings and
video recordings of great independent artists called The Weathervane Project
Series. This is the crux of what we do:
http://weathervanemusic.org/projects.

2009 is our start up year. What a year to start, right? Well, instead of
waiting for money to magically appear, we decided we needed to just get up
and start producing our work. So we embarked upon the series with as much
volunteer help as we could and, well, now we have something to show for
ourselves!

Our intention is to build up funding as the year goes along in 2010, and by
2011 to have a real-life "operating budget". Until then, I am still putting
out the word to audio and video engineers, camera operators and DP's,
lighting people, etc that we are looking for volunteers. None of the
projects are incredibly time consuming, and everyone so far has found their
participation incredibly rewarding. Oh, and I most definitely want to try to
make more music videos next year as well.

So please help me spread the word. I don't take anyone's skills, expertise
or time for granted. It's very important to me that we are on a track to the
day when we have regular paid staff. Until then, anyone who can stomach
chipping in their help and skills will be hugely appreciated!

Thanks for reading, folks! Please let me know your thoughts!

Yours

Brian

Thanks for the info, Brian! I passed your email on to some non-Philly Media Maker media makers. Ya following me? :)

I have no professional (or even amateur) experience with film-making, but I'm good at holding things, pouring coffee, and generally following directions... so let me know if there's some way I can help!
