Tonight's the night for the "Devil's Playgound" No, it's not another trip back to Easter State Penitentiary. It's a documentary about Amish Teenagers facing a time choice- the time when they spend time in the "English" world, where they discern what kind of people they might be and what they are forsaking if they chose to follow Amish ways for the rest of their lives. The film will start at 6PM. Kristen Meyer is preparing dinner. All are welcome for the showing of this award-winning documentary by Lucy Walker.

Also part of this past weekends activities,  we sent a team of students and parishioners to Immanuel Lutheran Church at 57th and Christian Streets this past Saturday. We spent the afternoon preparing one of their Sunday School classrooms for painting. The church has experienced a great deal of damage from roof leaks over the years, and we were pleased to be able to help correct some of this damage on Saturday. We plan to return on Monday evening, November 26th, to complete the painting. While we were there, we shared a meal with Pastor Derric Jackson and some of their parishioners, and had an interesting and challenging conversation about homelessness. (btw, there are picture posted on Facebook on the "Lutherans at Penn & Drexel" page. )

Also, It was gratifying to have so many people participate in the "Hospitality Workshop" after worship yesterday. We received a number of  excellent ideas and are anxious for the opportunity to put them into use.

Greetings in the name of our Risen Lord and Savior!

My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope this letter finds you very well. I apologize for not writing soon, but time always seems to move so quickly. The days are getting shorter, the weather is getting colder, and we are already being bombarded with all that fake Christmas media blitzing (Like a certain super-store that is always rolling back the prices telling me that if I buy stuff there I will save money so I can actually give more Christmas...hmmmm odd I thought Christ gave us Christmas not any of us). Oh well, enough of my cynicism, let me share some very exciting news. As the holidays do come closer and closer, so does the LSM National Gathering which is always a blast! There are going to be some really cool special guests and speakers there.
