TONIGHT at 6pm we will gather at University Lutheran for food, worship, fun and a short video about the church we'll be helping out this weekend with the service project.

What service project?

• 11-17, 2PM- Service Project at Immanuel Lutheran Church

University Lutheran is one of five ELCA parishes in West Philadelphia. Over the years we have had relationships of varying intensity with our sister congregations. As part of our Lutheran Campus Ministry, we are looking to re-establish and solidify those relationships with our Lutheran neighbors. A first step in that direction will occur on Saturday November 17, where members of UniLu (students and non-students) are invited to help reverse the affect or water damage which has been occurring at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 57th and Christian Streets.

Why help our sisters and brothers at Immanuel? Well, first off, we know too well from our own experience what damage leaks can cause. Secondly, Unilu has has ties to Immanuel through the efforts of Louise Shoemaker, who has worked with students from the School of Social Work at Penn to establish a community group, helped grow their Vacation Bible School, and has worked with their pastor, Derrick Jackson, on a number of community issues. In addition, serving at Immanuel as vicar this year is Mark Parker, who recently was married to Christine Parker, who was a Peer Minister here at UniLu (and is currently a student at LTSP) from 2002-2006.
If you are interested in helping that day please let the office know. We will leave from the UniLu parking lot at 1:30PM.

Don't forget about the National Gathering in Denver, Colorado - over New Years! There is money available to support your trip - awesome people will be going, and WE WANT STUDENTS FROM UNILU TO ATTEND! 5 of us had a great time in New Orleans last year. Please ask Kristen, Beth, or Josh if you want to know ANYTHING more about it. Even just fleeting curiosity.
