Mindful Philanthropy is looking to hire a Programs & Research Associate to join the team!

The Programs & Research Associate will support the development of Mindful Philanthropy’s programs and knowledge. This development includes research, projects, systems, and processes that will contribute to the overall strategy of programs and guidance of funders. The position of Programs & Research Associate will also bridge the programs and knowledge and operations functions for Mindful Philanthropy’s core work streams as it relates to data and research. As a result, this role demands extensive cross-functional collaboration, good communication skills, strong project managerial skills, excellent research, analysis and writing skills, creativity, and a process-focused aptitude that will enable the Programs & Research Associate to effectively execute multiple responsibilities and deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Support programs team in strategic guidance engagements with funders new to giving in mental health and addiction
  • Lead ongoing research and track updates in the nonprofit and philanthropic sectors to stay up to date on key trends and progress in mental health and addiction
  • Lead desk research related to understanding local, regional, or national needs, gaps in support, and opportunities to aid in guiding donors to the most impactful areas of investment
  • Make first attempt and contribute to team interpretation and analysis of research in guiding funders to high impact strategies and funding opportunities
  • Contribute to the development of Mindful Philanthropy knowledge products to aid funders in understanding new issues areas within the mental health and addiction sector (e.g. a roadmap for education funders to support mental health and primer for funders on supporting 988 implementation)
  • Support programs team to identify and evaluate nonprofit programs working to address issues of mental health, addiction, and community well-being
  • Update and guide internal processes for Mindful Philanthropy's rigorous nonprofit organization and program due diligence processes
  • Maintain internal documentation and records using MP's CRM of all nonprofits evaluated and our extensive network of subject matter experts and experienced funders
  • Support annual internal audit and review of all program due diligence processes and evaluation documentation
  • Participate in learning engagement with subject matter experts and funders
  • Maintain detailed notes and other records for all programmatic research and advising engagements

Key Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Comfort taking a first pass at new materials
  • Self starter
  • Strong listening and interpretation/translation skills
  • Experience in the nonprofit or philanthropic sector advantageous but not required
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3-5 professional work experience required

Working Conditions:

  • Full-Time
  • Remote - Teammates located in Philadelphia, NYC, Chicago, & Los Angeles
  • Reports directly to Director of Programs and Knowledge
  • Benefits included
  • Salary range: $60,000 - $65,000/year
