Title: Association Manager and Member Advocate

Role Summary
This is a full-time (35 hours per week) opportunity to support the Association of Mexican Business Owners of Philadelphia (AEM). AEM is a group of immigrant merchants whose mission is to support Latinx businesses to acquire tools, skills, and representation to promote their advancement to foster economic development in our community and the city of Philadelphia. Essential Functions
· Establish and maintain strong relationships with AEM member businesses and leadership
· Manage and grow relationships with city agencies and representatives
· Conduct outreach to Latinx businesses in and around Pennsylvania (especially but not limited to South Philadelphia), to develop relationships and recruit new members
· Provide one on one assistance to businesses with translations of documents and interpretation services to support business owners’ needs and advancement
· Serve as a key point of contact for business owners looking for help navigating City services and regulations, and support business owners with applications to City programs and grant opportunities
· Coordinate AEM services, including promotional efforts, event planning and execution, and social media management
· Coordinate with partner organizations to deliver workshops for business owners and carry out large-scale events and improvement initiatives on the S. 9th street corridor and beyond
Skills & Qualifications
· Bilingual and bicultural (Spanish/English - speaking, reading and writing)
· Passion and dedication to the community and experience working with Latinx immigrant communities
· Experience managing social media campaigns
· Experience planning and executing events and/or programs
· Experience coordinating and executing large-scale physical improvement projects (such as beautification, etc.)
· Experience working with small businesses, preferred experience working with Spanish-speaking or immigrant communities
· Experience managing and navigating relationships with city agencies and representatives
· Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish
· Highly organized, results-oriented and accountable
· Proactive and outgoing, self-starter with experience working independently and in diverse teams
· Flexibility with work environment
· Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Canva)
Compensation, Schedule, and Location
· $30/hour, 35 weekly hours including some evening and weekend time and significant in-person work. Most AEM members are located in South Philadelphia, especially along the S. 9th Street commercial corridor.
· The physical demands of this role include lifting objects up to 30 pounds, as well as significant time spent sitting, standing, and walking.
· Desired start date is January/February 2024; contact will last at least until July 2024 with the potential for renewal pending fund availability.
· The successful candidate will participate in periodic performance evaluation to assess progress.
