Concluding a week of protests involving hundreds of thousands of people around the world, this event will be thought-provoking and inclusive-- both attendees and thought leaders from organizations will have a chance to share how corruption impacts their work, and collaborate on ideas of how we can build grassroots power to combat the concentrated force of money in politics and unbridled capitalism.
After the speakers, organizations will have the opportunity to table and everyone is invited to engage in an Open Space Discussion.
If you're not familiar with open space, here's a simple breakdown of how it will go down
- It starts with a discussion focus question : How Does Corruption Affect Us & What Can We Do To End It?
- Both organizational leaders and attendees may lead or join a discussion, and engage in a conversation about current problems, possible solutions, and viable next steps to confront corruption within their issue.
- At the start of this event, blank paper and markers to submit discussion topics will be available on display.
- There will be a map and timeslots for where and when each discussion topic is happening.
- The number of discussion topics submitted will determine the # of rounds of discussions.
- There is only 1 rule: if anyone finds themselves in a situation where they are neither learning nor contributing, they must check out another discussion.
- Each discussion group is encouraged to elect a notetaker, to allow report backs of the conversations
- When all discussions are done, we'll hold an 'open mic' for reflections on what was said, what was learned, and how we can keep momentum in this fight.
