Hi there!  Thanks to everyone who came out for dinner yesterday.

Pam, I think your GF cocktail night is a fantastic idea.  I just discovered a gf gin I can't wait to try - Blue Coat.  Lisa, as our resident beer expert, maybe we can get the gf beer manufacturers to send us samples for a tasting - what do you think?  :)

Ok, my listfriends.  Our first event was a lot of fun, so let's keep this up.  We probably have a few thousand celiacs and gluten sensitives in the Philadelphia area, so we can really do some neat stuff if we keep getting more people involved.  What do you say?

Talk to you all soon!

-John

Hi, I wasn't able to make it but I've been looking forward to the verdict on the pizza.  How did it taste?  How big was it?  Thanks.  Claire Cavoto

Hey Claire!

I got the pepperoni pizza.  The pizza is a large personal size, definitely big enough for two - roughly 12 inches in diameter.  It is a thin crust pizza.  The crust was tasty and more flaky than tough like traditional pizza crust.  They piled on lots of cheese.  As a whole, I'd say the taste was pretty good.  They have parmesan and oregano on the table if you want to make the flavor more robust.

I'd get it again....but I wouldn't eat the entire thing this time.  Whoa, was I stuffed!

Claire,
The pizza was pretty good, I got the cheese and tomato and was much better then what i make at home.  The crust wasn't a gluten crust but was good.  It was a decent size for the price, next time i will take some home!

Well, I couldn't make it last Thursday but the suspense about the pizza too much.  My family and I went to the Pizzeria Uno in Montgomeryville last night.   I got the cheese and tomato gluten free pizza.  It was big enough for 2 meals for me, the cost was a reasonable $10.50 and the taste was ok.  Really the crust was ok as I wasn't crazy about the texture and not being crispy.  The cheese and tomato topping was fine.   I may add an extra topping or two next time.

I really love the frozen Amy's rice crust pizza that you can bake at home as my first preference, but then there's eating out with the family that I love too.  It was great to have a gluten-free option and I will eat there again.

Hi everyone,

I have recently tried the ready-made pizza crusts by Schar, and I thought it was excellent! It is pre-made so there is no mess, and you can add whatever toppings you like. I cooked it on a pizza stone for 10 minutes, and then simply on the oven rack for another 5 and the crust got amazingly crispy (the way I like it!). I found these at Rhubarb's Market in Lancaster, but you can also order them online from various stores - including Amazon.

That said I would go to Unos again for their pizza - I thought it was quite tasty, but would probably ask for additional toppings.
