Temple SJP "Apartheid Wall demonstration" postponed

Where: At the Bell Tower on Pollett Walk

Its gonna rain again on Monday, so we rescheduled the demo to the next
day, Tuesday April 26th, 11 to 4 pm. Tuesday should be sunny, 79
degrees. Please let your lissterv know of this today.

>>
>> An 8 foot tall "Apartheid Wall" has been constructed by Temple Students
>> for Justice in Palestine, for a great demonstration to be held on the center
>> of Temple's campus, The Bell Tower, on Monday, April 18th.
>> The demonstration will take place from 11 am to 4 pm.
>>
>> We are putting the wall at the Bell tower, the busiest site at our
>> unviversity. Just to give an idea, the average person on campus walks
>> through that site several times a day.
>>
>> The National Lawyers Guild is bringing people to act as legal observers at
>> the demonstration, just in case unjust arrests or what not happen.
>> The Wall is made out of 6 large panels of plywood, with a base to support
>> the wall from wind. We painted the wall light grey, just like the actual
>> wall in Palestine. There will also be garland wire on top of the wall,
>> representing barbed wire.
>>
>> The Wall will be displayed in front of the Tower, with mock checkpoints
>> and a model of an Israeli Caterpillar. The mock checkpoints will include
>> volunteers posed as Israeli soldiers. There will be lines of Israeli and
>> Palestinian "citizens." Each will have a "passport" identifying their
>> nationality. Palestinians will be held up, forced to sit down while
>> blindfolded, and and be holding up in front of them a poster displaying an
>> important message.
>>
>> Come out on the 18th to be a volunteer for our demonstration! We need all
>> the help we can get. One does not need to bring any material nor wear any
>> specific attire, except if you would like to be an Israeli soldier (we
>> reccommend IDF soldiers wear khacki or army pants, and boots). All other
>> material will be provided to you.
>>
>> Contact Razi Fareed at temple...@gmail.com for questions.
>>
>> Thank you!
