Hi,

Would anyone like to volunteer to lead the discussion for April? Our
meeting is scheduled for Sunday April 12th? I'd be happy to go over
topics/ideas, and if you don't want to lead the discussion this
upcoming month but would like to in future months please let me know
as well ...

Potential topics could include:
- More dharma concepts:
Taking refuge
Bodhisattiva vows
What is the role of the guru/teacher?
What are the Shambhala teachings?
Specific Shambhala topics (Bravery, genuine heart of sadness,
letting go, The Dot)

- And other topics:
Seasonality (Meditation in Springtime? Shouldn't we be outside, and
"retreat" in Winter?)
Nonviolent communication
Meditation and healthcare/healing
Environmentalism/sustainability
American and Tibetan Buddhism
American and other Buddhisms
Tibetan and Zen
Meditation within Judaism or Christianity
Why are there different kinds of meditation practices? Are all
practices created equal?
Beat poets on buddhism and meditation (Kerouac, Ginsberg, Leonard
Cohen, Gary Synder)
The relationship/writings between Alice Walker (wrote The Color
Purple, among other things) and Pema Chodron
Yoga yoga yoga. Types of yoga. Yoking the mind.
The commercialization of "Mindfulness" - good or bad. What is gained/
lost?
Activism - compatibility? incompatibility?

See, lots of topics ...

PLEASE VOLUNTEER : D

Best -

Kari
