Plans for may 31 SRC meeting #shutdowntheSRC

sorry for any duplication I am sending this out to various lists

So PCAPS,  which is the broad coalition working with the PFT ( the teachers union) meet tonight to finalize plans for the 31st.

I don't want to get into specifics on email but here is a broad outline of how things will hopefully go down.

General Plans:
The action begins at 4pm with teachers and supporters rallying outside 440 north broad.
doors open at 4:30.
Those prepared for action will move inside to take on the SRC.
Speakers will be prepared to put forward the main demands
*Stop this Plan - Full funding- demand the SRC go to Harrisburg to get the $$
*No school closings - Stop privatization of public schools - No union busting
*Initiate a broad-based process in which parents, students, teachers, and citizens have a voice in shaping a plan that addresses how schools and the District should be managed.
*No Confidence in the Schools Budget

Depending on numbers we may all be inside, or there may be considerable overflow. If we are not all inside those outside should keep up the energy, chants, peoples mic etc.

**Safety issue**  There will be high school students - minors- who are subject to curfew laws etc.. in attendance. We have to be tactically prepared to help facilitate their safe withdrawal from any potential confrontation with the PPD or School Police.

how can occupy fit in?
There are a lot of wildcards that make precise planning difficult, the most important one being: How mobilized are the teachers?
Their turnout could make a big difference in the numbers. The PFT is pushing this but the outcome is uncertain.

We bring our bodies, signs, chants, and our political perspectives, challenging the 1% and corporate education. Also our experience in demos and street actions over the last 8 months. Depending on the turnout we may have a very concrete role to play, especially if we are outside the meeting, keeping the energy focused.
