Hey everyone,

Sorry for the week long silence after our last feedup, I've been
swamped with family/passover/travel/other-BS-that's-irrelevant.

So I'd like to start planning at least two feedups: An expensive one
and a cheap one. I'll be making a survey on surveymonkey.com to get
actual interest / vote on preferable locations / pick dates, but for
now, how about just suggesting some places that you think we (the
collective we) should try. So please, suggest a place and give a
brief description of why you think we should try it.

I'll start:

Los Taquitos de Puebla - ($) - Bella Vista - Amaaaaaazing mexican
food. Great Tacos Al-Pastor, Cemitas (large sandwiches native to the
Puebla region of mexico, served on large seeded buns piled with a
ridiculous amount of meat, avocado, veggies, cheese, etc... these are
not your standard mexican Tortas). And roasted spring onions that are
absolutely killer. Veggie friendly, not so much vegan though.

Dim Sum - ($/$$) - Chinatown? - I have no specific place in mind, but
Dim-Sum is always a blast with a large number of people... I've been
to Ocean Harbor, Wokano and Joy Tsin Lao. I think Joy is my favorite
of the three, but I'm hoping someone who does Dim-Sum more often than
me has a more concrete opinion or knows a secret magical better place.

Modo Mio - ($$$$) - Northern Libs - This is a BYO modern Italian
restaurant that's been on my "dying to try" list for far too long.
It's the same chef as Paesano's, which makes some of the most
deliciously decadent and creative sandwiches in philly. If you
haven't been to Paesano's, you should definitely check them out too.

Amis - ($$$$) - CC - The newest of Mark Vetri's restaurants, it's an
Italian Tapas restaurant. Mark Vetri is arguably the best Italian
chef in America (hell, Mario Batali said he was the best on the east
coast). That alone is enough to make me want to try it.

So yeah, suggest away, I'll close the suggestion period (for these two
feedups) friday morning and make and send out the survey.

FYI Modo Mio is fantastic, but it's really more of a ($$$), since it's hard to rack up a bill higher than 40 dollars per person with tip (it's byob).

The problem there is it's tiny and opens at 5pm, so no afternoon feedups. Just wanted to get that info out there to you guys. (this is one of my favorite restaurants)

Last time was a lot of fun, in a slightly-awkward-you're-all-from-the-scary-internet-yet-we're-breaking-bread-kind-of-way. I've always wanted to check out a japanese place where they cook at your table, tho I'd have no idea where or if they do that here. This, http://youtu.be/6ZQ_wjVkNak , constantly amuses me, but mostly b/c he keeps repeating "morning, good evening, morning, good evening" in japanese. But all of the below suggestions sound awesome too.

Hey People

I'd be down for any of the places Dan mentioned, although I did not like Amis the time I went.  The food was great, but I didn't understand that all the entrees were tapas sized until after I got a really small plate of food.

I'll throw Opa ($$$) into the mix because I really want to try the "best octopus in the city".

I am a big fan of Amis. After eating there over a dozen times, I have never had a bad plate and enjoyed many excellent ones. I understand that many are averse to tapas sizes, but that's only the left side of the menu. The pastas and entrees have always filled me up. Every time I've eaten there, I've left stuffed to the rafters.

Modo Mio has the turista prix fixe for $33, so I would not classify that as expensive, at all.

I'd like to throw in Aimee Olexy's new Talula's Garden. I've been very excited to eat there since opening day. Also, my favorite restaurant in the city has consistantly been Pumpkin. It's a BYO and small, but for a group of about 6 or so, it would be great. Also Pumpkin does $35 prix fixe on Sundays.

Great/authentic and cheap Mexican always sounds good.

Cheers, bons vivants!
