Hi Parents.    First parents to respond will be able to take advantage of this free after-school activity.   See attached flyer for details. Please contact Laurie McCall below. Contacting me will delay your response. -jay

Wednesdays of Learning and Performing for Children ages 10-14

Be a part of After School Arts at Penn, a program where talented Penn students (who have undergone a background check and child abuse clearance through the state of Pennsylvania) teach drama, dance, voice, and musical instruments to local middle school students. No experience is necessary to participate—just come prepared to learn and have fun! The students will engage in various group and individual activities allowing them to achieve the following performing arts objectives:

  • Acting and performance techniques
  • Confidence building skills
  • Hands on practice with various instruments
  • Musical and theatrical improvisation
  • Voice diction, projection, and intonation
  • Dance, movement, and choreography techniques
  • Perform in a culminating Talent Showcase

Fall 2018- Spring 2019 Calendar: The program will run on the Wednesdays indicated in the attached flyer from 3:45-5:45PM at the Platt Student Performing Arts House located at 3702 Spruce Street, Philadelphia PA 19104.

The Talent Showcase on April 6 is for all
family and friends to attend and is therefore
on a Saturday afternoon.

There is no cost for this program and snacks will be provided. This program best serves students with little or no training in the performing arts though all levels are welcome! Space is limited and applicants will be chosen on a first come/first serve basis and completion of the application. All applicants will be notified by January21st. No children younger than 10 will be accepted.
