IS there a way to ignore overprinting when exporting to a pdf? I am
having a problem with a logo over printing. It's a complex logo so
when I ungroup it, the thing explodes. I didn't make this logo. When I
highlight everything it says that there is something overprinting. I
try to select all, then then click overprint twice to turn deselect
overprint; to clear the box. But it keeps coming back. Is anyone else
getting this?

I have a more of a suggestion then an answer. I had a instance where
it wasn't the object itself but the white space surrounding it ( I
don't want to call it a margin ) that was causing the problem. So I
made a new file and then copy and pasted the object and saved it the
right way and then had no problems. This might work for you.

Old-school Cheap fix -

Duplicate the object you're having issues with - fill it with white
(It might be easier to do this with an instance of it, rather than the
actual item) put the duplicated item behind the overprinting item -
basically creating a manual knockout of the underlying plates - before
AI had choke and trap controls that was how decent traps could be
achieved.

Yeah that is what I wind up doing now anyways. But actually what I do
is build the trap into the stroke so this way I can spread the cover
or choke the base.

I know the tools are there to do it automatically, but I do the same.. especially on things like letterheads and business cards where the tolerance for creep is sometime non-existent..
