Greetings Society Members,
Just wanted to send out a quick update now that many of us are back from France. For those of you who missed the memo, several Philly Dyno members toed the Paris-Brest-Paris start line to ride 1,200km in the French countryside and eat an unquantifiable amount of baguettes and pain au chocolat. The ride began on Sunday, August 18th, with most riders opting for a 90-hour time limit, and finished on Thursday, August 22nd.

The weather was good, with overnight temps never going below the high 40s, and daytime temps fairly mild in the mid 60s and 70s. The last day got a bit hotter, with temps that felt more like 80s, but that's OK. There was a significant headwind for the first half of the ride going outbound to Brest, which did turn into a tailwind after Brest, but it did keep shifting into crosswinds towards the end of the ride. The terrain is best described as "rolling" with no major climbs on the route, but the section approaching and leaving Brest was a bit rough, at least for me!
Besides the massive amounts of jet leg and sleep deprivation before, during, and after the ride, the experience was amazing! I thought I was going to quit rando after this, but now all I can think about is the next 1200km. I am still having PBP-related dreams at night...

Shawn and
Ryan were able to stick around a bit longer after the ride and do some envy-inducing sightseeing and vegan food-touring.
Finally, we are also planning on having a Philly Dyno get-together on either Friday, September 6th or Saturday, September 7th where we can share stories and celebrate. All are welcome. Keep an eye on this thread for updates.
