Holiday Bakers Meetup

Hey ladies! Hope you're all doing well.

There's been some discussion about having a fun holiday meetup, sans the usual baking challenge. So how about a weekend brunch at The Khyber (they have a good beer/cocktail list and a delicious New Orleans-style brunch). If anyone wanted to make treats to share (cookies, whathaveyou), that'd be great, but I was thinking we could do a baking pollyanna/cut throat santa sort of deal. Let's say $15-20, and keep it baking/cooking themed. So you could put together a basket of some amazing ingredients, or some tools, whatever you'd have fun giving. 

Now, as for dates, I was thinking the following:

Sat. Dec.7

Sat. Dec. 14

Sun. Dec. 15

If not enough interested people can make it to these dates, we can open it up to a weeknight (there just won't be a Cajun brunch, that's all!).

Also, for this, I'd like to keep it to the smaller group of just us bakers. We can enjoy some holiday cheer and goodies together, and maybe even discuss what we'd like to do in 2014, ranging from meetups to larger events.

Could everyone let me know by Friday (Nov. 22) which date would be best so I can then pick the official date and send out an evite?

I've never been to the Khyber before; is there accessible parking nearby? (Parallel parking gives me agita -- blame my New Jersey-ness.)

Is the plan to be at the bar or a table? If you see a short brunette in polka dots wandering around with a gift bag, please flag me down! :)

Hey Jess!

Glad you can make it :) I'll be taking public transit, but according to Google Maps there's a bunch of parking lots on 2nd St.

Between Market and Chestnut, there's Central Parking and Sky Parking, then just past Chestnut there's Auto Park.

My suggestion is to look at Google, and you'll be in good shape :)

I'm getting to the Khyber at 6:00 and will be snagging us a table, most likely in the dining area to the right of the bar. Just look for the redhead in the houndstooth dress with a sparkly green gift bag :)

So glad everyone had a great time last night! If anyone wants to do happy hours between now and the next challenge (even something super informal), just toss out an email to the group. Otherwise, it looks like we'll aim for a challenge either late January or in March ... and Emily it sounded like you were interested in hosting, but we can iron out the details after the holidays.
