Hi everyone! I'm hoping you're staying cool this summer...my kitchen is hot (no AC), so I tend to dread heating it up :P

Anyway, just an update: Unfortunately Stephanie needs to back out of hosting in August due to scheduling, and I know most people are pretty busy. If possible, we can do a September meetup, but we'll need a new hostess and a new set of dates.

Additionally, I most likely will not be able to make it because September is my month from hell at work, plus I have an out-of-town wedding at the beginning of the month and I'm taking a much needed vacation at the end of the month.

That said, I can still set stuff up with the scheduler and help get information about the location, ingredient and theme out to everyone.

If no one chimes in about hosting for September in the next week or so, then maybe October is a better solution.

Take care!
Mel

I would be willing to host. I prefer a weekend...any one after the first in September. My work schedule is flexible as long as I can request off in advance.

Let's see what everyone's availability is for these dates...

Sept. 13, 14, 15
Sept. 20, 21, 22
Sept. 27, 28, 29
Oct. 4, 5, 6

Also, maybe we can also plan an October outing to pumpkin/apple pick? Thoughts?

Looking forward to the fall!

I'm so down for some apple picking! Most of those dates I am available. The sooner we decide the easier it is to move stuff around. I'm sure everyone feels that way. I can host after Melissa. I'm moving this week so once I'm settled (and run it by the roommates) I can plan something. Maybe we can do one in September and then another in November before the holidays? Just some thoughts. Let me know what you think.

All right, since Melissa chimed in first for September, I'll hand off hosting to her.

Melissa, I'll build a schedule once I get the start times from you for those days. As soon as I have that info, I'll send the scheduler out to everyone so folks can get this on their calendar. Once the date and time is set, send me your choice of secret ingredient and theme and I'll send the info out.

Apple picking sounds great. Mood's is awesome...I just went blueberry picking there during their blueberry festival and entered my Blueberry Chocolate cake in their blueberry dessert contest and won 3rd place! Also, Collingswood's Farmers Market has an annual apple pie contest, usually in October or November. Their peach pie contest is the first weekend of August this year.

I would love to go apple/pumpkin picking in the fall as well.  I have a yearly aerospace conference the second week of Sept, but I'm good any other time.  I can host November, if we choose to do one then.

Cant wait to hear all about your summers!

I would say for Friday/Saturday let's do 7-9'ish and Sunday 2-4'ish. We can tweak the times once we know the date, but this should give everyone a general idea of what we are looking at schedule-wise. Also, since I have the space to accommodate...I would like to open the meet-up up to people outside of this circle. We have plenty of time to work out details, but if they could contribute appetizers and refreshments...that would be great! This way maybe we can generate some more interest as well as get some more taste testers/feedback. Is anyone opposed?

There is also a really nice orchard in Freehold, NJ...Battleview. I picked sour cherries a few weeks back. They will have several varieties of apple and pumpkins! They also have an adorable country store and there is a winery nearby who offers tastings...perhaps we can do both?!

I love Moods! That's where we went to pick blueberries, raspberries, and peaches last Saturday. It was a lot of fun. I've also been apple picking in West Chester too. They had quite a number of apples to choose from. I don't mind if "outsiders" join the party. When I went to make my last batch of cupcakes I had plenty more that I did not bring along.

All right, I just sent out the Meeting Wizard.

Melissa, as the hostess for the 2nd challenge, I leave it up to you and the other bakers about if you want other guests ... please just make sure you coordinate with these people yourself (I'd prefer to keep the Google Group to dedicated bakers, for the sake of managing it).

So far, it looks like the only date I might be able to attend would be Sept. 14, so I will most likely be missing this one. Melissa, following the event, can you send a recap of the night via the Google Group? I'll try to post about it on CFP.

Oh hey everyone! I'm late to the email party! All sounds good to me! My September is pretty clear right now so I shouldn't have any problems. Hope everyone is doing well!!! I'm down for picking fruit, just picked 50lbs of blueberries last weekend. Lol. And congrats Melissa on your 3rd place win that's awesome!!!!

It looks like 6 of us are available for Sunday, October 6th. Once a few more chime in we can finalize the date! :)

Yeah, I tend to go with majority rules on scheduling. I'll send out a reminder email early next week to get any people in last minute.

Be aware, since it is more than 2 months out, there might be last minute cancellations (we had that last time). If someone does need to cancel, no worries, just please email the group on this thread, as well as Melissa (our hostess) directly. I'll get all that info out to everyone (including Melissa's address and contact info) once the date is set.

Sorry for the delay -- I've been away on business! As of now, Oct. 6 looks good for me, and autumnal things sounds fabulous (especially during this heat and rainy weather). Thanks for organizing! Looking forward to it!   -Jess

Thanks Jess...if you have a moment, can you go into the meeting wizard so we have your dates confirmed?

That just leaves Stephanie, Aarti, and Jeanine.

Currently, with Jess saying Sunday, Oct. 6 is best for her, that has the most people available. Melissa, do you want to go ahead and call it or wait for the remaining responses?

I think it goes without saying that if someone can suddenly make it, they're more than welcome to attend (just touch base with the hostess).
