Hey everyone!

Unfortunately, due to various personal commitments, we only have (3) people who will be able to attend/participate in this Sunday's SQUASH baker's challenge. This being said (and after discussing things with Melissa), we decided that it would be fun to move our meet-up to a local brewery/pub.

We would like to meet at the PHS Pop-Up Garden near Broad and Spuce. (They have a beer garden and food from Garces Trading Company.)
http://phsonline.org/greening/pop-up-gardens

Our original meet-up time was scheduled for 2pm, so just let me know if we would like to stick with this.

I would say no more than a dozen mini cupcakes will be sufficient, since there are only a few of us participating.

MAYBE

OUT

Let me know if you have any questions!

All right, so it looks like Oct. 6 is the best date for our rescheduled challenge. Melissa Templeton will be hosting at her home in Fishtown. Here are the details:

Date: Sunday, Oct. 6
Time: 2-5ish
Secret Ingredient: Squash (use your imagination...that are A LOT of varieties of squash!)
Theme: Fall

Address:
241 East Allen Street
Philadelphia, PA 19125

Street parking can be tricky, but you can park for free at the Sugar House Casino lot and walk over.

The event's address is a private residence, so do not share with other people who aren't attending the event!

If you need to cancel, please let both me AND our hostess Melissa know at least a few days in advance.

Also, if you'd like to bring a beverage or side dish to share, contact Melissa directly at cakesforcauses@gmail.com

Melissa is opening this event up to non-bakers, and will be coordinating the headcount. Melissa, can you give us a headcount the Monday before the event?

Also, since there will be non-bakers attending, do we still want to sit down and discuss our cupcakes? Or just fill out a feedback form?

Looks great to me. My squash of choice is sitting on my worktable, ready to be crafted into something delicious.

I'd prefer if we stuck to 2:00 pm, since I have things to do that evening.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Sound good to me.  I still have to come up with an idea and a recipe!  I guess thats what weekends are for.

See you Sunday!

Heads up...it's supposed to be rainy this afternoon, so let's meet somewhere else (since I don't believe the pop-up garden has cover). The first place I can think of is Nodding Head on Sansom between 15th and 16th. Any other thoughts?

Let's get this location settled on by noon so it doesn't affect our travel times.

All right. Now time for me to get baking :)

The pop up garden does have umbrellas and whatnot but definitely wouldn't be good if its raining. There is also Perch Pub at Broad and Locust which is nice. Also two of my friends are planning on stopping by. Sorry about the last minute notice. One of them is up visiting from DC so I wasn't sure her plans until last night.

Can't wait to see what you all came up with!!!

Yay for more people! Ray might join is as well.

The only thing to keep in mind about an alternate location is if they're ok with us bringing cupcakes in. I've done it at Nodding Head and had no problems. Emily, do you know if Perch would be ok with it?

Any other suggestions?

Oh I have no idea. I've never tried to bring in anything there. I'm down with whatever place. I'm also planning on taking the 1:57 train so should be getting in town around 2:30. Just a heads up :)

Ok...so the skies are clearing over here. I checked the forecast and now rain has been pushed off until tonight. Let's stick with the popup, but if it starts raining, shift over to Nodding Head.

Does everyone think they'll be arriving between 2/2:30?

I'll be arriving around 230 as well. My long run took longer than expected so I better get my buns in the kitchen.

Can't wait to see you all, I miss my baker friends

I will aim for 2:30.

I will just have to tell you all about what I had planned to bake, since I was short on time for this challenge. So sad.

If we do end up moving elsewhere...I would steer clear of a Midtown/Gayborhood because there is a street festival today and it's going to be a zoo. So Nodding Head or Perch would be good alternatives. Rain, rain stay away!

Hey ladies,

Could you send me a short description of each of your cupcakes? I was able to jot down my thoughts about them, but I plan on writing a post for CFP and want to get their ingredient mentions correct.

Thanks!
