The majority of our planet is the ocean. In what ways can it sustain us and how can we sustain its vital functions?
  • Andrea Copping is a Distinguished faculty fellow the School of Marine and Environmental Affairs at the University of Washington in Seattle.  She studies how the ocean generates energy and the effects of harnessing that energy. She will tell us how we could use renewable ocean energy on land and to reduce the use of greenhouse gases.
  • François Ribalet is a Research Associate Professor in the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington in Seattle.  He studies plankton, particularly phytoplankton, the tiny plants sustaining life in the ocean and the whole planet.  He will discuss his research on the effects of global warming on phytoplankton.
