- Katie Surma is a reporter at Inside Climate News focusing on international environmental law and justice. Before joining ICN, she practiced law, specializing in commercial litigation. Several reports have found a link between severe weather events and gender-based violence, which has been shown to be more lethal during incidents of extreme weather. She will describe a growing global movement uniting women across borders to promote alternative economic and ecological models centered on justice, rights of nature, and local knowledge to address this large multilayered problem.
- Alison Young, Director of Outreach at iNaturalist, a citizen scientist organization collecting data worldwide. At iNaturalist, she works to grow and support the iNaturalist community in their efforts to document and learn more about nature around the globe. iNaturalist provides a place to record and organize nature findings, meet other nature enthusiasts, and learn about the natural world.
- Liz Robinson is the Executive Director of the Philadelphia Solar Energy Association. She also is a long-time advocate for environmental issues, particularly in the Philadelphia region. She will tell us about the local and nation-wide September 21st Sun Day celebrating solar energy fun.
