"Paul, an apostle (not from men
nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who
raised Him from the dead." - Galatians 1.1
Dear Friends,
I started reading the book of Galatians this week. I couldn't get
past the first verse of the first chapter!
Confidence in his
identity. There's no denying it. Paul was confident. He was
confident in his relationship with God. He wasn't embarrassed. He
wasn't afraid his identity would offend someone. He
was an
apostle - one sent of God. And his apostleship had
nothing
to do with any other human being.
How often are we tempted to put our identity in anything
but
Father? People's approval, their criticism, our "success" at work
or in the home - don't we often look to these things to construct
our identity. I ask myself (and you), "How's that working for
you?" I can almost hear Father asking me, "Are you tired yet?"
This weekend I invite you to pause and take some time to meditate on
just what it was that made Paul so certain of his identity. Explore
your own way into that certainty. Move toward the freedom of
standing on a solid foundation.
May God be with you.
