to Philadelphia Jews for a Just Peace
Hello Community,

This is an invitation to a momentous panel discussion on Boycott,
Divestment, and Sanctions of Israel at Mishkan Shalom synagogue in
Philadelphia.

It is a rare day that such a forum would be invited within the walls
of Jewish congregation. Philadelphia Jews for a Just Peace is not part
of the panel discussion but will be there in support of BDS.

Please come out to support this type of open dialogue inside Jewish
institutions and also to support BDS as a wide array of Philadelphians
who believe in justice for everyone.

Please see below for more details.

In Solidarity,

Philadelphia Jews for a Just Peace Steering Committee

Panel Discussion on BDS

Wed., June 1st

7:00PM

Mishkan Shalom

4101 Freeland Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19128

All Welcome

RABBI REBECCA ALPERT will moderate a panel consisting of knowledgeable
people with
a range of views:

REBECCA VILKOMERSON

is the Executive Director of Jewish Voice for Peace. She has been
working on social justice issues in the U.S. and in Israel/Palestine
for
over 15 years. From 2006-2009 she lived in Israel with her family. In
2010 she was named one of the "Forward 50": the 50 most influential
Jewish leaders of the year.

BURT SIEGEL

retired in 2008 as the Executive Director of the Jewish Community
Relations
Council (JCRC) after 35 years with the organization. He was one of
the founders
of the Congregation of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, now
known as
Or Hadash. As for his politics regarding the Middle East, they
probably can best be
described as dovish but realistic and worried.

SARRA LEV

is a professor of Gender and Judaism, associate professor of rabbinic
literature and
the co-chair of the Department of Rabbinic Civilization at the
Reconstructionist
Rabbinical College as well as the acting director of Kolot: The Center
for Jewish
Women’s and Gender Studies. A member of several Jewish communities,
she has
taught in various places, including Bat Kol: A Feminist House of Study
in Israel, which
she co-founded.

Join us for a fascinating evening to explore this current movement.
