This Friday, September 16th: MASS PROTEST IN ISRAEL: THE SOCIAL JUSTICE
JUGGERNAUT

It started with one young woman pitching a tent on Tel Aviv’s
Rothschild Boulevard. Within a month, more than 300,000 Israelis in
twenty cities were marching for social justice, for fairness, and for
Israel’s future. On September 3, a million Israelis – Ashkenazi,
Mizrachi, Arab, secular, Orthodox, middle-class and poor – are
expected
to hit the streets in the most massive social protest seen in Israel in
decades.

The sense of excitement, of empowerment, is palpable. Broad-based and
focusing on the quality of life for average Israelis , the protest is
forcing the government to confront basic issues of democracy, equity and
justice.
Join Naomi Paiss, Director of Communications for the New Israel Fund,
for a special Kabbalat Shabbat service followed by a discussion of the
social protests and their potentially huge impact on Israeli politics
and society.

Friday, September 16 at 7:30pm
