Please join the Philly BDS coalition to protest the Jewish
National Fund (JNF) on Wednesday evening, May 4th at the JNF annual
poker-themed fundraiser. Beginning at 5:30 pm, we will form a picket
line outside the event at Del Frisco's Steakhouse, 1441 Chestnut Street
(corner of 15th and Chestnut).
Tribe Hummus is owned by the Israeli corporation Osem which is a
large contributor to the Jewish National Fund. Since its creation in
1901, the Jewish National Fund (JNF) has directed its resources towards
to the acquisition of land and property rights for the exclusive use of
Jewish settlers. Indigenous Palestinians are forbidden from leasing or
building on any lands acquired by the JNF. The JNF provided political,
financial, and intelligence support in the ethnic cleansing of
Palestinians during The Nakba (the Catastrophe) and the establishment of
the state of Israel in 1948. It aided Zionist forces in expelling
two-thirds of the Palestinian population living in what became Israel.
After 1948, the JNF was re-branded as an environmentalist
organization focused on forestation, planting and constructing forests,
parks, and recreational facilities over the remains of hundreds of
Palestinian villages, serving to erase the memory of ethnic cleansing.
The Negev Desert and the Galilee are two current focal points for JNF
“greenwashing”—the use of environmentalist rhetoric and projects to veil
its efforts in stripping Palestinians of their homes and land.
And remember to support our campaign to boycott Sabra Hummus and
Tribe Hummus. Proceeds from TRIBE HUMMUS go towards the Jewish National
Fund. To learn more about our campaign, go to
