Temple Students for Justice in Palestine presents…

The Much Renowned Scholar, Dr. Norman Finkelstein, a Son of
Holocaust Victims:

"Fall of the Arab Despots: Israel Next?"

Thursday, April 7th

6:00- 8:30 pm

Walk Auditorium, Ritter Hall, Temple University

13th St. and Montgomery Av., Philadelphia PA

Dr. Norman Finkelstein, a son of Holocaust victims, is arguably the
leading voice for Palestine in the nation. Dr. Finkelstein will start
by discussing the recent affairs of the conflict, such as the Gaza and
Freedom Flotilla massacres and the so-called “peace-process.” He will
continue and speak on the urgency and criticality of the present
situation in the Middle East, with Israel having occupied and annexed
almost all of former Palestinian land to its sovereignty, and its next
target of Lebanon and a war with Iran in sight. Finkelstein will
highlight on the imperialistic behavior of the Israel government of
being not just a threat to Palestine, but to the whole region of the
Middle East. Dr. Finkelstein will conclude with the effects of the
Middle East uprisings on Israel and Palestine.

Dr. Finkelstein was born to a Jewish family, and is Jewish himself.
His mother, MarylaHusyt Finkelstein, survived the Warsaw Ghetto, the
Majdanek concentration camp, and two slave labor camps. Norman's
father, Zacharias Finkelstein, was a survivor of both the Warsaw
Ghetto and the Auschwitz concentration camp. Finkelstein recalls his
strong youthful identification with the outrage that his mother,
witness to the genocidal atrocities of World War II, felt at the
carnage wrought by the United States in Vietnam. Consequentially,
Finkelstein modified such moral outrage to the necessity of
maintaining intellectual rigor in the pursuit of the truth.

Finkelstein's work has attracted a number of supporters and detractors
across the political spectrum. Notable supporters include Noam
Chomsky, prominent intellectual and political critic; Raul Hilberg,
Holocaust historian; and AviShlaim, Israeli New Historian. According
to Hilberg, Finkelstein displays "academic courage to speak the truth
when no one else is out there to support him... I would say that his
place in the whole history of writing history is assured, and that
those who in the end are proven right triumph, and he will be among
those who will have triumphed, albeit, it so seems, at great cost.”
