A CALL TO ACTION ON THE “FISCAL CLIFF”
The “Grand
Compromise” is NOT equal sacrifice!
Do not fall for the
“Grand Con Job”!
After this month’s historic re-election of President Obama, we must
act now to protect necessary programs like Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security
and job creation for the American public.
The damage caused by Hurricane Sandy has left New York and New Jersey
with a large number of public works and green job opportunities, but tax
dollars are needed to make sure that this work gets done. We have to connect
the people who need jobs, with the jobs that are available.
Polls show that 60-percent of Americans support increasing taxes on
the wealthy to make them pay their fair share, and it is up to us to make sure
that happens.
This nation’s wealthiest and most powerful 1% is hoarding over $2
trillion, but it complains that even a small tax increase would prevent the
creation of well-paying jobs. We cannot allow ourselves to be fooled by the
lies of a group that controls our financial system, caused our financial
crisis, and continues to make more money than all of us combined.
We cannot allow the proposed “Grand Compromise” to force the 99% to
pay even more in taxes. We must tell our elected officials to free up tax
dollars to put our communities back on track. Making the millionaires pay
their fair share is a big part of that!
We don’t have much time. The Republicans are pushing for a compromise
before Xmas.
Take action now by contacting your
Congressional
and
Senate representatives, and insisting that they vote to
protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and for job creation, and to make
the rich pay their fair share.
You can contact them
by phoning at the AFL/CIO call congress hot line. Call
1-888-659-9401,
and enter your home zip code for more information.
We also urge labor, community,
peace and justice groups to visit the offices of their elected officials to
make sure they do the right thing.
