Hi
Attached, some notes on "Limits of Mill's Egalitarianism."

Question: what should we do in the last meeting of the seminar?

Here are some suggestions, listed in no special order. You may well have other suggestions.

1. Mill's Three Essays on Religion ("Nature," "Theism," and "Utility of Religion.") [Is one of these essays more interesting
than the others?]

2. On Liberty, chapters 3 and 4.

3. Chapters on Socialism.

4. Considerations on Representative Government, later chapters (after chapter VIII).

to Mill's Moral and Political Philosophy
Some other possibilities:

1. We could read and discuss something that had otherwise been
background reading: (a) System of Logic bk VI; (b) Mill's two essays
on Bentham; (c) the essays on religion; (d) the autobiography.

2. We could pick some one or more bits of secondary reading and
discuss directly -- sg by Lyons, sg from Skorupski's Cambridge
Companion, .....

3. We could all be responsible for bringing 2-3 meaty questions abt
some aspect of what we've discussed and go around the table 2-3 times
discussing.

I guess I tend to favor (1) [esp (a) or (b)] or (3) but am open to
other possibilities.
