Hello,

Yesterday, after SWIZ preso, one of the attendees asked for an advice
on how to change his career from managing people to Flex programming.
In particular, he was interested in what book on Flex to read and what
else to learn.
These are not simple but interested questions, and I'll blog on this
subj today or tomorrow on my personal blog http://yakovfain.javadevelopersjournal.com
.

But meanwhile, if you are interested in career stuff or an easy way to
learn Java, download a couple of my free e-books

1. Java Programming for Kids, Parents, and Grandparents

2. Enterprise Software Without the BS

You can get these books by clicking on their images on the top of my
blog.

Hi all,

I was the attendee Yakov is referring to. I'd like to thank the group
for your time and assistance yesterday, it is greatly appreciated. I
have a long road ahead of me and the group's recommendations will
surely help.

Yacov, I'm heading over to your site to check out your e-books. They
sound very much like what I'm looking for. Thanks.

For anyone that authors or edits technical training materials,
speaking as someone that has been perusing such lately, I'd like to
offer this insight: A picture is worth a thousand words. I wish that
on every third page there was a flow diagram for the sample code being
taught. A simple schematic showing how clicking the component
generates the event (with the data inside) which is passed to the
handler which calls the custom ActionScript class which refers to the
superclass which dispatches an event which stuffs the data into the
TileList which is displayed in the Vbox. That sort of thing.

I know, it sounds elementary but I think it would be an invaluable aid
to the reader. Nothing shows how to get from point A to point B
better than a map.

Not only would it clarify the accompanying text, but it's an easy way
to turn a 250 page book into a 400 pager. : )

Thanks again one and all, I look forward to being knowledgable enough
to utilize Swiz sometime in the near future.
