Dear all,

Happy New Year everyone and I hope you are doing well and safe.

Following the success of the Astro@Talk initiative that we launched last year, we are happy to announce that we will be starting a new series of Talks in 2021.

We invite you to attend the first conference on “Effective Field Theory” given by Tnourji Abdellah, PhD student at the Clermont Physics Laboratory (France) and CERN (Geneva) , tomorrow January 10, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. GMT+1 (Morocco Time).

Here is the link to connect via zoom.us, please try to mute your mic when you get in.

See you there,
Youssef Moulane on Behalf of HEPAC

Abstract:
The Standard Model is believed to be theoretically self-consistent and has demonstrated huge successes in providing experimental prediction. However, it leaves some phenomena unexplained and falls short of being a complete theory of fundamental interactions. In general, Effective Field Theory (EFT) is a type of approximation, or effective theory, for an underlying physical theory like for example Stander Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT). In this presentation, I will try to give a very clear and comprehensive definition of EFT (with examples) with an introduction to the SMEFT model.
