Hello PhDuino,

I am interested in building this or similar interface for several pH
probes I have from the old "IBM Personal Science Laboratory".. I have
a general interest in instrumentation of all kinds.

Also, I am working on Educational Materials for Arduino and
Electronics. This is aimed primarily at "Newbies" but will evolve into
more detailed project information. Feedback appreciated! Please see
http://yourduino.com

I am also looking for suggestions on parts, sensors, boards etc. to
stock in our small online store.

I've been scrounging for parts and stuff for many years.... I lived a
couple years in China near Shenzhen, and it was an amazing source of
Electronics and other parts.

I hope some of the low-cost Arduino and electronics stuff I have found
in China would be of interest to your group. I love digging through
this stuff and have been doing it for 60+ years :-)

A Chinese friend of mine and I started http://yourduino.com and we
have a beginning set of interesting Arduino stuff. We have low-cost
shipping figured out to US, UK, Asia and Europe.

If your members have suggestions for components or boards to stock,
please let us know. We may be able to source kits of things also. We
have some Starter Kits we have already packaged.

Thanks for listening. I Hope to get more activities like yours
happening where ever I am...

Regards, Terry King

Hi guys,

I am happy to know about your interest. But, I would like to point you that you can not make money selling pHduino kits. The shield is protected by license I used the Eagle free version to make the PCB (no commercial products). Please, pay attention to the licenses to avoid legal problems.

Best.

Hello Carlos,

I was not intending to reproduce pHduino except for my own use...   I understand.

If you were to want to market it through our company at some later time, we can discuss that.

That said, I am interested in the spectrum of low-cost instrumentation that may be effective integrated with Arduino, including chemical sensors, dissolved oxygen, conductivity etc.

But my work now is at a much simpler level of Educational materials..

Curtis,

I am sorry to say that I don't want my name, using the pHduino v0.2 layout, in a commercial board. This layout was created by me using the free version of the Eagle. Another point is my layout is a single side board. You changed it for a double layer but it is in essentially my layout.

If you want to sell boards, you need to change it up to say that the new layout is significantly different form the my layout. In this case, you can put your name and sell it.

Therefore, I don't approve it to be sell.

Sorry.

Carlos,

Here are some pictures of the initial board design.  I haven't had a chance to test it yet, but it sure looks good.  Please let me know if you have any comments.  I hope to be able to test it in a week or so and start generating a final BOM for a kit.  It is possible that a kit would be available in a month or so.

Thanks,

Curtis

Hi Pope,

This is a great news for the pHduino community. It is nice see the project generating variations like the Arduino board.

Yes, we will really appreciate it.

Good luck.

Hey Carlos,

I have actually been working on a version of your board that I was thinking about offering as a kit.  I have a commercial version of Eagle, and I have modified both the schematic and layout slightly.

I just got back my test boards from the PCB manufacturer yesterday, I can send you some pictures if you like.  it gives you a nice plug and lists the website.

Anyways, I'd like your feedback on whether this violates the eagle license and if you are OK with me putting together a kit for this?

Thanks,
Curtis Pope
