WiSSAP-2016 Winter school on Speech and Audio Processing
Background of the Winter School:
WISSAP is organized by the Consortium to carry out a project
on developing text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis systems for Indian languages. The
project is funded by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology
(DeitY), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MCIT),
Government of India for Rs.12.66Cr.
Phase I of the project
consisted of six institutions and Festival-based TTS systems were developed for
Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and Bengali.
Phase II of the project
commenced in 2012 and will progress till 2015 with six more institutions The
institutions/organisations involved in the project are listed below.
- IIT-Madras (Hindi and Bodo)
- IIT-Guwahati (Assamese and Manipuri)
- IIT-Kharagpur (Story telling all languages)
- IIIT-Hyderabad (Telugu)
- IIT-Mandi (Rajasthani)
- IISc-Bangalore (Signal Processing)
- DAIICT, Gandhinagar (Gujarati)
- PESIT, Bangalore (Kannada)
- CDAC-Mumbai (Marathi, Odia)
- CDAC-Trivandrum (Malayalam)
- CDAC-Kolkata (Bengali)
- SSNCE (Tamil)
WISSAP- 2016 is the eleventh in the series following the very
successful earlier ten winter schools:
WiSSAP 2006 to WiSSAP 2015 focusing on different topics in speech and audio processing which provides a forum
for students, researchers and professionals to enhance their background
and get exposed to intricate research areas in the field of speech and
audio signal processing. The schools constitute of a theme topic and
tutorials surrounding it. WiSSAP 2016, scheduled between 8
th and 11
th
January, 2016, and organized by the Department of Information
Technology, SSNCE.
