Book Discussion by Prof. Andrew Clapham | Non-existence of licence to kill in IHL

Dear everyone,

I am pleased to share that NALSAR shall be hosting Prof. Andrew Clapham, Professor of International Law at the Graduate Institute, Geneva for a webinar on 14th October 2021 (Thursday) from 6.30 pm - 7.30 pm IST. 

He is a leading authority in the area of Public international law, specifically International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law. He was the first director of the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights between 2006-14 and has worked as an advisor for UN bodies, such as being the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Iraq. He is presently also a member of the UN Commission on Human Rights in South Sudan. Among others, he has edited the commentary on the Geneva Conventions. and Brierly's textbook on International Law. He will be discussing his latest book titled 'War', specifically the chapter relating to conduct of hostilities in International Humanitarian Law and the debate concerning 'licence to kill' of combatants in armed conflicts (Please see the attached chapter).
