“The Neoliberal Agenda for Our Universities”

Abstract: To understand the neoliberal revolution in Higher Education unhappily emanating from the UK we need to get to grips with the ideological bases of Neoliberalism itself. Setting about an outline of that task uncovers a commitment to the denial of the very possibility of knowledge. That, in turn, throws light on the centrality for Neoliberalism of the demolition of our universities in its fight for the future. Focusing on certain details of the UK situation – the model today for world-wide neoliberal revolution – I shall explore some of its

implications and finish by considering the question of what is to be done.
