dead iphone, want a touchscreen?

Hello all,
I have recently ended up on the wrong side of some self-iphone surgery, and ripped a datacable in my iphone 3g.
It's not really worth paying to get fixed, as it was a 3G that was running iOS4, and therefore painfully AGNONIZINGLY slow. I had already decided to buy a new phone, so the loss is no big deal.
What I'm wondering is, anyone out there now how to use the touchscreen that comes with an iphone? It's a pretty good display/touchscreen, and I was wondering if anyone knows how to hook it up to an arduino controller? I'd love to work on this myself, but with the amount of projects on my horizon already, it is just very very unlikely that I'll actually do anything with it.
