Dear Emil,
We only have Newtonian gravity at the moment, so for neutron stars this would be a poor approximation. For white dwarfs things should work fine.
We have recently put the Helmholtz equation of state into the code, so this should be immediately useable. You might like to get in touch with Pablo Loren and Terry Tricco (cc’d) who’ve been working on simulations of white dwarf mergers.
With a student I am also working on incorporating general equations of state for Neutron stars, such as the Shen equation of state.
