Dilettante
Shea Mowat
video by Jeff Striker
lecture by Emily Brewster
DJ Jenny O

happy spring. this is what i know, hear me now:

Dilettante is playing instead of Boston Lamb & Veal who was playing
instead of Megan Palaima who was playing instead of Brown Wing
Overdrive who was playing instead of 10 (from Korea). In short, none
of these acts are interchangeable, but we now finally have a
confirmation and they will definitely not disappoint.

Dilettante is a hoo-boy, scrape-diddly improv trio from greater
Boston, comprised of Josh Jefferson (Alto Sax / Clarinet), Ryan
McGuire (Bass), & Flandrew Fleisenberg (Percussion). Their bio states
that, "Josh is manic so he plays the sax. Ryan is depressive so he
plays bass Flandrew doesn't know how to play any instruments so he
plays the drums." Two of these gents are in Boston Lamb & Veal, so
i'm not completely lying.

Cabin-feverish Maineac now lurking in Franklin County, Shea Mowat
perennially sprouts fantastic actions & performances with very little
need for pruning, harsh pesticides, or fertilizers. There's a fanclub
for him & his work, but he could care less:

Jeff Striker has recently completed a fantastic
structuralist-minimalist deep viewing sculpture-like video called
"There is No Dread Hereafter" which, incidentally, is playing at the
Brand Theater at Hampshire College at 6:30pm on the next two Fridays,
4/23 & 5/1. He will not be showing this long and hypnotic piece, but
will be showing one of his earlier works, a 2008 deadpan gem entitled,
"Babies." Peep these & other works from his nicely-curated archive
here:

Co-proprietor of the Rendezvous & lexicographer extraordinaire, Emily
Brewster will take to the podium to deliver this season's Phantom
Brain lecture on notable arcana.

Northampton's Jenny O. Orozco will be operating dueling victrolas (ok,
battered numarks) & providing our groovy sonic wallpaper throughout
the evening, please get down.

The Montague Phantom Brain Exchange is a quarterly event of challenging
entertainments hosted/curated by a Mr. Cloaca. A typical evening will
include two to three performing acts, a fifteen-minute lecture,
selections from a guest DJ & sometimes a short video or film. It's a
potlatch of ghost-intellect. Sometimes you can overhear this
conversation between the missing muscle & its memory. Phantom Brains
dreamt up this dimension, our duty is to make it fascinating.
