and what OS? you run? 8.1-64bit? too
the error is DIRECT X failing
what are you doing gaming, tell what you are doing at the error.
turning it on.
turning it off
playing game that does not run on old PCs with old Direct X.
sure it fails.
the video card matters, what card do you have or is this some laptop
each game site has page
or each game in a box has words that say
system minimum requirements,
if your PC does not have Direct X 11, it will not run that game
in WIN8, up
open the run box, and type dxdiag
as seen here
-us/help/179113/how-to-install-the-latest-version-of-directx
if you game can not do that, then you need newer video card.
if on laptop, a new PC .
my pc runs directx 12 under w10-64b (Z270 system custom by me)
it runs DX12 on down games, all games made, (not 16bit , sure)
Hi Tushar,
My name is Pradeep and I work for Dell's Social Media Team.
Please disconnect external devices and try running the application.
Please update video and chipset driver. The video card on the system might not support DirectX 11.2 which is included in Windows 8.1. Please download DirectX 11.1 using the link: -gb/kb/179113/en-us

the game seems to run a bit choppily for me. it's quite hard on the eyes, and it periodically slows down. other graphical things in windows appear sluggish/half-speed too (animated cursors, IM sign in notifications etc.) while the yume nikki window is focused. is this normal? in videos on youtube the gameplay seems smoother. :(
i also cannot run the game in fullscreen mode, i get this problem where the image is squashed into one 3rd of the screen, and a ghosted/flashing copy of it appears just below. took a terrible picture with my webcam.
So, I try to download rtp2000(or 3000), the thing you need for 2kki and .flow, but each time I do it, the set-up stops at 44% and gives me this retarded screen. Do I need the japanese language package? Please tell me what to do I'm so helplesssssss
I'm playing Yume Nikki ver. 10 on a Mac OSX through Crossover. Every area works fine, but after I enter the Eye room where you get the Medaumaude or however you spell it, around ten seconds after I go in and usually less the game freezes and crossover shuts down. Is there any way to fix this (aka speed glitch so I can get the item faster and press 9) or does anyone have a copy of the game that definitely works on Macs? Any suggested alternatives would be welcome.
Or better yet, tell me where I can find the english version. I tried to get the one that was here, but it wouldn't download for me. If someone could put it on Megaupload or something, that'd be great.
Ummm, I think so. I know I had something called 2000_rtp and 2003_rtp or something like that. Uhhh, mabye you could give me a link to the right one? Or mabye I need to put it in a certain folder? I'm kind of a n00b with this stuff. XP
For the Crossover users, did it take a huge amount of time to install? I'm using Crossover Pro 8 and after waiting 5 minutes for a Bottle to finish, trying to run the .exe for Yume Nikki froze up ALL of my programs except for my cursor. Not cool. Is there a version that works better?
Hey pals! I'm very new to this whole Yume Nikki thing, and gosh darnit, I just can't seem to get this game to run. I've installed it three different ways, but all three times I've gotten this error message. Is it something wrong with the way I've installed it, or is there a problem with my computer? I'm running this on Vista if that helps
Firstly, get applocal. It should be fairly simple to google. If you have vista, you'll have trouble getting it to work, so you'll have to actually run a Command Prompt in Administrator Mode, and change the directory to the place you downloaded applocal. Enter applocal.msi, and you should be good to go. There should be something else that came with the applocal download, japanese registry packets, so install those too. Now you'll have to download RPG 2000 RTP. Keep trying until you've found one that's willing to install, and then try to run Yume 2kki. Ctrl-Alt-Shift should put the screen into windowed, so Vista users can see it. It won't work perfectly if you've encountered all this trouble, but it will work.

same for me.
ive just started playing, and i decided to go clockwise around the cirle of doors.
i have met three different circular headed people, i stand next to them and press enter to talk.
but nothing happens, are my controls broken?
or do they not want to talk to me? do i need to find someone to teach me how to TALK in dream?
I use a toshiba television as my monitor. Whenever I try to run Yume Nikki on it, my screen blacks out and I get "unsupported video signal" floating across the screen, no matter what. I always run in 1024x768, the computer doesn't support a higher resolution than that. What do?

This happens in every RPG Maker game for some odd reason.
It stops doing that when I restart my computer. Sometimes it doesn't stop, so I have to restart it again until it works. If it doesn't, well... then I don't know D:
Hmm, whats the latest version and can someone link it here? My version starts off with the girl in a room thats square from an overhead but everyone elses seems like a square room but from a lower angle so the room actually has depth. Mine says .10 , isnt that the latest?
The top fifth or sixth of my screen flickers/redraws when I run fullscreen. It seems like it's setting the wrong refresh rate or something, but I can't figure out how to exert any control over the game's display mode. Dicking with my graphics driver's vsync setting yielded no results.
Ok, i was really addicted to yume nikki, i played it every day. But i just got a virus that deleted my yume nikki file. I thought it was fine and i could get it again, but then it keeps saying that it cant create some file called

I was having some problems with the keys not being configured correctly, but that was because I downloaded some other version of the game and not the one linked on the sidebar here on Uboachan. Once I switched to that version the control issues cleared up.
Question: why has no one compiled these common problems and solutions into a FAQ on the wiki yet? That was the first place I looked for help, before stumbling into /yn/. At the very least, I think people having trouble with fullscreen and needing to know the windowed mode shortcut (alt+enter) is pervasive enough that it should be in a FAQ of some kind...
For some reason, while Yume Nikki works, both .flow and 2kki won't work, because they say I do not have RPG Maker 2000. I tried downloading it, but this laptop has Windows 7, and 2000 doesn't work with W7.
AAHH GUYS. Serious problem here.
The game worked like a charm up until I downloaded Yume 2kki and tried it. It didn't work because I didn't have RPG Maker 2000 installed. Oh well, I said, so I deleted it.
But now when I go to play the actual Yume Nikki and go into one of the rooms in the hub, THIS happens. I never stops and I'm forced to kill the application from the task manager.
It only happens when I go into some rooms; when I go into Number World, Shield Folk World or Neon World it's fine, but when I try Candle or Eyeball World this happens. I tried reinstalling the game but it didn't help.
PLEASE HELP ME! I'm 2 effects from the end of the game! I'm gonna cry if I can never play it again!
Crisis averted guys! (I think)
I found out that for the love god knows why it started rejecting its own MP3 files in the Music folder. A lucky google search told me if you get this issue convert (not rename, convert, I used Audacity) all the MP3 files to WAV files. So far so good!
If it happens again though I'll post back here. Hopefully now this'll help anyone else who gets this issue!
