I'm new to postgres.
Can someone explain why a view effectively becomes a constraint on a table?
In Sybase ASE, the view is effectively a window onto the data. If the data doesn't exist, the view returns nothing. You can truncate the tables involved in the view (other constraints permitting) but it is not constrained by the existence of the view.
