Good Afternoon Providers,
We are receiving an increasingly high rate of denied labs do to limited diagnosis coding. Z00.00 seems to be the favorite go to code which does not cover any of the following labs:
T3, T4, TSH
Vitamin D, 25 hydroxy
Lipid Testing
HgA1C
For incoming invoice complaints, I have reviewed the chart for any correlating diagnosis a year prior to the date of service and requested that it be added to the requisition and resubmitted to the Insurance carrier for payment. Patients that have come to establish care and the only documented Dx. is Z00.00 will receive a lab denial. Our patients are extremely frustrated by the invoices that they are receiving.
