My love. We have been WAITING FOR 15 Years OR MORE for Roopa Singh to move to town, grow roots and plant a cultural center--physically in Lawrenceville--spiritually in our hearts.

Yoga Journal's recent market survey shows that in the year 2012, 24 million Americans did yoga, and spent over 10 billion a year on it.  But guess who is not in those studio rooms?  Working class folks, people of color, and the list goes on.  Yoga Equality aims to offer a yoga studio, think tank, and culture hub that is a safe space for all, and I think that's priceless.  I hope you do too. READ MORE..

About Roopa:

Hi, my name is Roopa,  I know first hand that healing is personal and political, just as yoga is.  One decade ago, I was graduating from a top law school, coming off an internship at NPR and the U.S. Supreme Court, advocating for battered women prisoners, and amidst all this, I finally found the voice to say no to sexual violence.  An incredible 10 years later, I'm using my experience as a lawyer, yoga teacher, and a business owner at Third Root Community Wellness Center in Brooklyn to open my own yoga studio.  Through yoga I've lost 70 pounds, and gained myself back! Yoga Equality will be the first studio in town to be run by a Hip Hop generation, Indian-American woman who knows just what it means to heal. READ MORE..

Omg etta this is so exciting!!!!! I had nooo idea. I have been wanting/needing to do yoga but its sooo gentrified here. Roopa and third root and saapya are soo bad ass! Idk what ima do yet but ima get dem some money somehow! House party? Brunch? Personal favors? Agghh im so excited!
