Hey ya'll.

My friend just shared this with me. I know that reporters do a great job at sensationalizing stories such as this, but this is absurd.
I am trying to find ways to interact with the restauranteur positively. Any ideas?

Gah. Thanks for bringing this up, KT. This has been making my blood boil since the start. The original idiotic idea and (offensive) article here: http://www.post-gazette.com/neighborhoods-south/2012/06/19/Braddock-looks-to-new-Kevin-Sousa-restaurant-as-urban-renewal-project/stories/201206190237

It's nuts. He was originally going to get a ton of CDBG money (federal dollars for low and moderate income neighborhoods) for it.

I unfortunately have no suggestions on how to act with him positively, but I thank you for flagging this.

Yes, me too. I have been writing and rewriting an open letter in response to this - in my brain since that same article Ngani.
It is completely about Kevin Sousa, but I also think that the fact that so many are just agreeing to this narrative, buying it, supporting it and so on is even more dangerous than Kevin's actions.

I would love to participate in an open letter - making room for dissent action.

folks, this is old news, there's much more since this article.
This idea and location as per 2012 article flopped,  building didnt' work out. Sousa has since been given long term free rent in the old Superior MOtors bldg by Mayor Fetterman and is online trying to raise something like 250,000 from donors to back his restaurant..(no it doesn't give you any share of his profits).
You can see his KickStarter fundraiser proposal in this link. He has 54 hours to go and has raised about 165,000 so far. If he doesn't hit the 250 mark, he doesn't get any of it.
Please note: I am NOT suggesting anyone give to this at all....this is just fyi. It's not getting a dime of my money, believe me. There's plenty of folks in Braddock who were involved in the struggle to save Braddock Hospital who are highly skeptical of this whole deal and not putting any effort into it. .

hey mel!

thanks for you links. i think the previous posters knew this was old news they were just reflecting. the food and wine story kt mentioned was about the kickstarter campaign.

not a big deal. just sayin. i felt a little defensive with the 'old news' comment.

loves!
etc.

sorry, wasn't intended to put anyone down with "old news" comment, but had the impression that folks had just discovered it and wanted to make sure everyone was up to speed on the latest ridiculous developments........
